Mission

To promote research and education on and in eastern Europe

EEPS Foundation

  • Encourages, enables, and recognizes high quality, multidisciplinary, scholarly research and education on and in eastern Europe

  • Serves as a worldwide forum for interchange of ideas and scholarly practices on and in eastern Europe

  • Organizes and facilitates conferences, seminars, and workshops on topics related to eastern Europe for academic and public audiences

Foundation activities are directed toward eastern Europe defined as the lands and peoples between Germany and Austria to the west, and Russia to the east, and including the Balkans to the south.

This region has been a crucible of cultures, social movements, and dramatic political conflict -- never more than today. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the resurgence of insular nationalisms in other countries are the darkening landscape in which we search for green shoots of democratic resilience.
